The following guest post was contributed by Alexia Krause, a PR executive who is writing today about MMA Workouts for women.
MMA Workouts are not Just for Men
Mixed martial arts appears to be a male dominated sport, yet the number of women who are becoming part of the MMA community is continually growing.
There are many female MMA fighters (including Kaitlyn Young and Gina Carano), who follow the same rigorous regimens as their male counterparts. These inspiring ladies have broken open the doors to what used to be the “boy’s club” of MMA. They use the same techniques, MMA equipment, and exercises that most fighters would use.
Black and Blue Entertainment, LLC presents the third installment of its mega-successful event Cage Fight MMA! The second show back in August was truly a spectacle to behold and has been praised around southern NH as one of the best MMA cage fights ever put on in this area.
Each match up was tight, and the main event really had a high quality UFC look and feel to it. With CageFight MMA events gaining popularity so quickly, it seems like highly qualified fighters will be participating on a more frequent basis.
Once again, Black and Blue Entertainment has put on a tight Cage Fight MMA event. None of the fights seemed mismatched this time around, although some of the fighters did end up getting dominated and manhandled for whatever reason. Everyone has a bad day sometimes.
Brent Kinberger
The sole Team Woo competitor this time around, Brent Kinberger, dominated once again. I’ve talked to Brent on several occasions and he’s really a genuine nice guy. When it’s time to step into the ring though, he kicks it up a notch. Both times that I’ve had the honor to see Brent fight, he just walked into the cage and kicks major ass. He’ll just jump on top of you and beat you until the ref stops the fight. I am totally a Brent fan.
For those of you within 2 hours of Manchester, NH, there’s something fun and unique for you to do this Saturday night. Black and Blue Entertainment of Hooksett, NH presents their second ever Cage Fight Mixed Martial Arts event, which they are calling, “Blunt Force Trauma”.
The fights are put together by Roger Woo and Barbara Woo of Team Woo, an MMA team located in Hooksett, NH. The two of them alternate teaching my Thai Kickboxing class, and spend hours training and coaching the Team Woo fighters. Roger is also half owner of the previously mentioned Black and Blue Entertainment, which is organizing the event.
This is going to be a tight show. The first show went off with much praise and success, and this time there looks to be even more, higher quality match-ups. I would say 3/4 of the fighters last time had losing records; the winner of the main event was 4-15 coming into the fight. This time we will be watching some real competitors.
The current fight card looks like this (subject to change without prior notice):
Black and Blue Entertainment, LLC presents the follow up to its initial, mega-successful event Cage Fight MMA, held in May 2008! The last show went off without a hitch, and this one promises to be bigger and better. Bigger venue, more fights, more people, better VIP seating… everything has been increased and expanded!
This time around we have 17 fights on the card already, with a month still to go. If you live within traveling distance of the Manchester, NH area, I highly recommend you attend this event. You won’t be sad, trust me. Better yet, scroll to the bottom of this post and follow the link to sign up for the free ticket giveaway… they are giving away two free tickets every week!
I went to an event last night called CageFight MMA “The Beginning” in Bedford, NH. Initially I mentioned it in my article about Black & Blue Entertainment’s first ever professional cage fight event. It went really well for their first gig. I believe one of the fighters in the main event broke his hand a week out from the contest, but they still put together a good show.
My girlfriend Gayle and I with Roger and Barbara Woo
The half owner of Black and Blue Entertainment, Roger Woo, also owns Team Woo, a professional MMA team. Three fighters from Team Woo ended up fighting, two of them won and one lost, but the dude he fought was clearly jacked even though he was only 5’4, 160lbs. Otherwise, there were fighters from ME, NH, and MA representing a total of 13 different teams.
Some of the Team Woo guys.
There wasn’t too much blood but most of the fights were pretty good. There were definitely some kicks to the face, some knock outs, and some submissions; everything you’d want to see at a cage fight. There were also plenty of women including two svelte little ring chicks.
I would post the official lineup, but I was too preoccupied watching the fight to remember to write down the fighters records, who won or lost, and how they won. Apparently I would not make a good reporter. Next time I shall be better prepared.
From what I understand, Black and Blue Entertainment will be hosting 4 shows a year. The next event will be on August 16th, so I will be posting those details as soon as I know more. You can bookmark the CageFight MMA homepage at CageFightMMA.net.
