Some of us are trying to improve our body composition – whether losing fat or building muscle. Others are trying to improve performance. There are a few whose goal is to improve flexibility or mobility. In nearly all of these cases, results are enhanced as we are able to more effectively burn fat.
More often that not it is hard to obtain desired results from simply “working out”. This frustration begins a downward spiral of accepting being overweight, unhealthy or enduring unnecessary pain. However, if you need direction on how to effectively burn fat, then read these tips to start shedding pounds today.
Prepare Yourself
If you are new to working out, then it is pertinent to start slow with your goal to burn fat. Make sure you listen to your body, and do not attempt to do more than you can handle, or ultimately you will just hurt yourself and find yourself worse off than when you started. It is important to stretch before and after every workout routine to ensure your muscles do not get too tight, and you will need to increase your water intake to keep your mind and body hydrated. The best way to start working out is to simply take a walk each day; this is a vital part of any workout regimen.
High-Intensity Interval Training
If you are more familiar with working out, then you may want to consider incorporating high-intensity interval training. A HIIT workout consists of doing different exercises for about 30 seconds each. This workout is different than most workouts because there is not a set amount of reps. Instead, you will do as many jumping jacks, burpees, or mountain climbers as you can in 30 seconds and then rest for about 30 seconds. Do not make the mistake of pushing yourself too hard, or you may find yourself having to rest for a few days to regain mobility of your limbs. This is one of the most effective fat burning exercises I have personally attempted, and results were noticeable very quickly.
Healthy Dietary Habits
To ensure you are losing weight while working out it is necessary to burn more calories than you consume. You may find it is beneficial to consume a high protein diet as well as fresh fruits and vegetables on a daily basis. A great way to trap fat molecules and expel them through your urine is to squeeze the juice from a lemon into a glass of water and drink it before bed. Make this a part of a nightly routine, and you will shed pounds a little faster than usual.
Lift Weights
Another great workout to lose weight is strength training. There is a common misconception that you only lift weights if you want to build muscle; however, research has shown that this type of training is very beneficial for someone trying to lose weight. Although, the best results are obtained when you pair strength training with aerobic exercise. Once again, it is very important to listen to your body so you do not find yourself suffering from unnecessary injuries.
Have Patience
It will take some time before you start to see results from your workout, but do not give up hope. As long as you stay optimistic and continue with your exercises daily you will see results. If you are highly stressed, then consider adding a relaxing exercise to your routine from time to time such as yoga. Not only will you lower your stress levels, but you will ensure your body stays flexible as well. One of the most important things to remember is to drink plenty of water every day; consider adding frozen berries and fruits to really enjoy your water and quench your thirst quickly.
Stay Focused
Do not forget to stretch, stay positive, and remind yourself you are doing a great job. If you find that you are having a hard time sticking to your routine, then partner up with a friend or family member that will help you stay on track. Remember why you are working out, and hang in there, because I can promise you it is well worth the effort to work your way back to a healthy weight.
